Stefan Holzmüller lived and worked in the painters’ village Grötzingen, where he died in February 2010. He had a lasting and unique influence on the artistic life in the old village centre, where he had his living studio. This website allows anyone interested in archiving Stefan Holzmüller’s work to make a contribution. With this interactive online archive, I, Gregor Stehle, would like to give everyone who is in possession of works by the artist or knew him personally the opportunity to enrich the archive with his contribution.
The quality and originality of his ceramic work was recognized by Jean Dubuffet during Stefan Holzmüller’s lifetime and honored in art history with the inclusion of some works in the collection of the Art-Brut Museum in Lausanne. The occasion for the establishment of an extensive archive is the 10th anniversary of his death in February 2020. An exhibition in Grötzingen 2020 and a catalogue “Life and Work of Stefan Holzmüller” with art historical texts, a catalogue raisonné and stories from his life are in preparation. The archive is managed on a voluntary basis and lives from your support. Copyright photos on this page: ©Stephanie Pilick Gregor Stehle
